Please everyone expert in exchange server 2003 hlep me the following issue. I have a Windows 2003 Standard Edition server (with SP1 from CD) running exchange 2003 (with SP1). I can connect to the exchange server using OWA, but whenever I use a mail client Office outlook 2000 running on Windows XP, I get the following error when I click check name "The Name could not be resolved. The action could not be completed.". I have checked all the settings and searched this site, but I cannot find anything that has solved the problem as yet. Has anybody got any suggestions

You've got some type of network problem. Can you ping the server from your client pc that has outlook installed?

might also want to try adding wins entries (although since you've already added an lmhost it might be redundant)

Verify registry settings at HKLM\software\microsoft\RPC

RPC service is used for name resolution.

Also, if you are outside firewall, make sure that ports required for outlook are open to RPC service.

If you are using broadband; switch back to dial up as most of the broadband ISPs block these ports.

For checking open in use ports, use netstat command on command prompt. 1260 port is used outlook running on my machine.
