we have a new server with windows 2003 server standard edition installed and exchange server 2003 but every time we try to install exchanage server and start its pop3 service it says its currept and give error code 1610 we also have norton antivirus corp edition installed. could it be that its currepting something on exchange when we are trying to install exchange server

sure, it could. dont know if it is but, yes, it could. You really should disable it altogether when installing and afterwords, make sure you set exclusions properly.
