Should I use the Exchange Server 2003 or should I use Exchange Server 2007?
Here is my setup:
I have a Visionman Server with a Pentium D 3.0 GHz Processor and 3.24 GB of RAM. The machine supports 64 bit, but I am planning to make this into a 32 bit Domain Controller and run Virtual Server or VMware Server and create a VM for Exchange Server 2003.
I have 2 more Pentium 4 3.0 GHz servers which only support 32 bit OS.
One is an old Video Server Box which is now going to be my Internet Gateway and Terminal Server. It has 2 NIC and 1 is going to be directly connected to the Internet.
One is a Custom Built Kit and has an ASUS P4P800SE Deluxe Motherboard in a Server Chassis, which I was planning to make it into an XP desktop.
One of the Pentium 4 is going to be an Exchange Server or maybe I will be running a VM on my Pentium D and making that the Exchange Server since I only have 4-10 users in my network. One Pentium 4 has 1.0 GB and another one has 1.5 (I can swap the 0.5 to one server or the other).
Should I stick with my original plan, which is use Exchange Server 2003 inside a VMware on my Domain Controller or should I put my Domain Controller on one of my Pentium 4's (The ASUS One) and make my Server a 64 bit Exchange Server 2007 running Windows Server 2003 x64?
Please help because I am having a hard time deciding.

I would go with the latter option as a you can't run a 64bit VM on a 32bit Host OS....If you have the hardware I would place the DC on its own machine and make the 64bit machine, Exchange 2007. Exchange 07 works best on server 2008 if you can do it. Also, read-up on Exchange 2007 powershell as about 1/2 its configurations are done via powershell as opposed to exchange 2003 with the ESM.
