Hey all,

We have an exchange database that appears to be corrupted, or has a hardware failure. Maintenance fails to run and backups fail to complete. ESE errors are present after these failures, along with Disk errors in the sytem log.

The database unmounts and remounts with no problems, which makes me wonder if it's not corruption. Anyway, on to my question.

This weekend we dismounted the store, ran eseutil to check shutdown status (clean) and moved the logs off and remounted the store. No problems there. We then dismounted hte store again and made a copy to another server.

After doing that, we took the copy attemtped to run an offline defrag. This ran for about 10 hours before erroring out with a jet_corruption error.

We are now running a repair on the copy of the database and then will attempt the defrag again, along with the isinteg -fix commands when defrag is completed.

After doing that, will be able to simply copy the fixed database back on the main server, mount that database, and have the transaction logs that are still there replay to the server?

Thanks for the help guys, i really appreciate it. I know this is long winded and confusing, so ask any questions you need.

You didn't mention taking care of this issue. You would need to do this before you put the db back.

Imagine the power if you knew how to internet search

That brings up another question. The error mentions that it is the hard disk controller. If we change out the RAID controller for a new one, will we have to re-build the RAID? This is a RAID controller card.
