Hello
I have recently got a new Oki 3200 printer and instead of connecting it to a workstation and sharing it from that i decided to try and connect it to the server instead to make it easier to print.
The problem is if you are on the server and print a test page it works find but when i use one of the Xp Pro machines i just get a error - printing message in printing list. I have found out by printing directly to printer that it is coming up with a "could not connect shared printer to port" message.

Ok i have made a new development, I can print from the XP machines now but only if i log into Administrator account that is the same one as used on the Server. What do i need to change so that the pupil account will print aswell?
Also what do i need to change so that i can log in as pupil to delete all the old printers as it is coming up restrictions
Thank you

Hi, I have the same problem with OKI 3200. I alsoo get the message 'could not connect shared printer to port'. Did you solve your problem yet, because I don't know how to proceed. Thanks.

I solved this by letting "everyone" "Manage printers" and "Manage documents" in the printer security tab

I did like you told and now everyone can manage printers and documents. But the problem still persists. When I look in the advanced tab not all rights have been taken over. Then I modified and confirmed it there. But when I checked it again later the boxes are unchecked again in the advanced section (in the security tab it is saved). It seems that I can't fully modify the printersettings. (the printserver = usb port at external hdd (maxtor shard storage plus)
