Emails delivered late

I'm a newbie, so please bear with me. Some users have complained that emails are being delivered a few hours or a few days too late on out Exchange server. Does anyone have any ideas as to what this could be? Thanks!

Dear Danmpem,
This could be a number of things however can you post which exchange server you are running, if you have any service packs applied and if you are using any applications on top of exchange - for instance a spam filter or antivirus engine.
Also you you recieve your mail directly or do you have your mail relayed to your exchange from your ISP?
