duplicate name exist error

i hav installed windows 2003 server this server will be used as a d.c , fileserver and dns server. i hav also installed two lancards. and assigned 2 ip addresses one for file server access and other one for dc and mapped names with ip address in dns server. wen i try to browse with the name it gives error dublicate name exist .although i can browse with ip address

If you have two separate NIC's configured for the same network (with different IP's) then you'll get this error as they are both on the same subnet and that creates a duplicate name. You don't need separate NIC's for file server access and another for mapped names (not even sure what you're trying to accomplish here). One NIC will do both jobs and one is all you should be using.
Summary: the blank suffix is ok, but you need to have each machine use a diffrent name or you will get error "duplicate name exists on network",, blah blah. and you won't be able to connect via explorer or net...
