I would like to make an exact copy of my hard drive, not an image.I have a win 2003 server.I dont want to have to restore an image, but just clone the drive.Whats the best software to do this?

Programs like Ghost can clone as well as make images.
What exacatly is it you're trying to accomplish? Is this some sort of a backup?

I have Ghost but its not compatible with win 2003 server.
I want to make an exact copy of the hard drive in case the main drive crashes.I can then just pop in the cloned drive and work as normal.

"I can then just pop in the cloned drive and work as normal."
Doesn't work like that. No system stays static which is what you are assuming here. After all, are you going to remember each time you install or uninstall software to make a new image? Most likely not.
Consider instead getting a ide, sata or scsi raid controller. Hardware mirror your present drive to another drive. If one fails you are operational and current.
You also have the option, with Server, to make the disk dynamic and do software mirroring which does not require a hardware controller. Hardware mirroring is better but you get the fault tolerance with software mirroring which is what you want.

You can clone or backup your drive.
you can even backup a Dell computer and restore it to HP or IBM computer
I use it to make images of my STD desktop installs. i can deploy a single image to any type of computer in my place and it will work just fine. Ghost cant do that

Hi wanderer
I have downloaded comprehensive details on how to do the software raid on my server.
Once the mirror is done, does it mean that if one drive crashes the other is fully operational?I dont really understand this...
