I have 2003 Server with AD running well, but i have problem when i try to create same profile i mean same desktop wallpaper, icon, quicklaunch, my client about one hundred and running windows XP Profesional, i gotta plan to wipe out all client os and reinstall from new ghost image, and also wipe out user list on AD.

What i need is, when user first time login using their new username in any workstation, they have same desktop, wallpaper, icon, quicklaunch, etc, also if they moving to another workstation, but they free to change anything and have a different email pop3 account.

I try to copy manualy but it doesn't work..

If anyone could help i would greatly appreciate it.

You need to set up Roaming Profiles.

Set the profile location to a share that the users can access (read & write for that specific user) in AD. When the user first logs in, a user account will be created and saved in that location.

In Active Directory, right click the user.
Go to the "Profile" tab and set the "Profile Path" to a UNC path.

I use Roaming Profiles and Folder redirection as a hybrid to cut down on user logon time to different machines. Folder redirection can be handled through group policy.

Worse plan I have read of in awhile.

"they have same desktop, wallpaper, icon, quicklaunch, etc, also if they moving to another workstation, but they free to change anything and have a different email pop3 account."

That is fantasy.

You can via roaming profiles [better research that to understand server and newwork load issues] have the users desktop follow them but allowing users to, at will, change their email setting is asking for many many painful techsupport hours fixing the problems.

Imagine the power if you knew how to internet search
