I have been having problems with my server. It has two Network cards. One connecting to a Local Area and another to the web.when both network cards are connected i seem to get time outs either one of them. When one is connected individually the connection is fine. How can i solve this problem

PS.I sometimes get heavy traffic on the server coz of its usage therefore i know traffic may cause the problem but the traffic is unavoidable

Are the two cards connecting to the same switch?
I assume they have different ip address ranges and are not in the same subnet?
Your MS DNS server has entries for both cards?
Are you routing [RRAS] between them?

Give a person a fish, they eat for a day. Suggest they internet search and they learn a skill for a lifetime.

Hi,
I have a network here, with the DC running W2k3 Enterprise Server with SP1, and the clients running Win XP with SP2. DNS Server and DHCP server are also running on the server.
The server has two LAN Cards --- one for the Local Network, and the other for Internet . The internet one has IP address, DNS address and Gateway addresses defined (given by the service provider).
The Local Network card has IP Address and DNS address given (pointing to the server itself).
Now my issue is:
1. Everything is hunky dory as long as I dont connect to the Internet. (Using the Sify Dialer). My network works fine, and everyone is able to use resources on my PC and I am able to browse other PCs on the network.
As soon as I connect to the internet, I get disconnected from the Local Network. Nobody can access me, and I can't access anyone. To access network resources again, I have to restart my system.
There was no problem like this on my previous internet connection (MTNL Broadband). However, I had to change ISP due to the cost factor.
Can anybody help me in this regard please????
Thanks
Venu

My system configuration:

P IV 3 ghz, 512 ram, 915 chipset MBoard running W2K3 Enterprise server with SP1 and two Realtek LAN card (One onboard)

they are on different IP ranges (the Local Network on 192.168. range and the Internet on 10.1. range with different subnets

nothing
