I cant insall win2k3 from windows xp. I ran intsall from winxp and it said "u cant upgrade winxp home to win2k3" I continued the install but for some reason in the advanced column i cant specify in what partition to install iwn2k3, only the folder.(the option to specify partition is grayed out). i dont know why its grayed out and do not want to risk losing my current OS to try installing to a different folder. Also i tried to install by putting cd in and booting the computer but nothing happens. If possible e-mail me, but if you dont want to its ok if you just reply. Thank you

You need to create a partition on your HD to install W2K3 from your XP OS but if you do that you need to format all HD, you can use partition magic to do that without loose your current OS is easy to use.

I am Having a Dual boot on my Dell Inspiron Laptop WIn 2003 Server and Win xp. First you have to install Win 2003 server and then Win xp Then it works fine. For that you have to make two partitions and then start with Win 2003 Server..

If you install XP AFTER 2k3, it will ERASE the dual boot menu. Always install the older OS first.

People cant say "i dont know" if they dont know something.theres no such rule that u should install the older one before the newer one.Even if there is,it coz the person doesnt know how to install the other way.
i got win2k3 installed after winxp ....works fine.Any questions u have just ask away...i'll be happy to answer you.
