DOS programs on w2k3 sbs server

OS: w2k3 sbs standard
CPU/Ram: xeon 2 /512

I have an 8 year old office management software package that worked well on w2k pro
moved up to w2k3 sbs server on a server platform and it will now only allow one workstation (xp) to access it all other workstations (7 w2k and xp) get data base locked error's
vendor tech support stumped
any ideas appreiciated

... weird, is the program locking it ot that one speicifc computer only?, and is it always querying the database?, while other computers are trying to query it?

try running the database software in compatibility mode.

try using it as a windows 95/98/me compatibility (right click the .exe's and select properties and goto compatibility)

also it could be the way that the server itself is locking the files, since the software was made for dos and i htink the file locking methods have changed in 2003 server, it could cause problems at that level

one way you can probably fix this is by using vmware gSX server and installing a virtual OS on your 2003 installation, but i dont want to go in depth any further on this :)
