Hi....
I own my own domain and i would like to run my own email server so that i can track email and have more security and control over the emails plus make mail quicker etc...
However i have obtained my domain via uk2.net ( who are slow to send my mail ) who currently direct my mail to my email account run by my ISP. How can i set my own domain that I got from uk2.net and set up on my own mail server and bypass using uk2.net who currently forward my email for me at the mo.
If uk2.net wont allow me to do this, what can I do, so that I can set up my own mail server ? Do I have to register my domain with someone else ?
Additionally what do i need to set up a mail server.. Can i for example use MS Exchange or Windows Server 2000, or if anyone can suggest some good freeware that is out there.Any information would be greatly fully received.

First, you need a Static IP Address for your mail server, 2nd you need to allow port 25 through your firewall. 3rd in the DNS registry with uk2.net you need to change your MX record to point to your IP address of your mail server
and that's pretty much all you need to do as far as pointing the mail to your server, now you need to setup your server, mercurymail and argosoft mail are good free mail servers or you can go with exchange and pay microsoft, you can search for free mail servers on google.com and probally come up with some good ones.
