DNS through VPN

Hi all,
I am using windows 2003 Server and a Cisco router. when connecting through the VPN I am unable to ping by computer name. However, by IP works fine.

What DNS server is used at the VPN connection on your PC, you try to ping with.
Check with: ipconfig /all

It looks like after joining my laptop to the domain at the office and then connecting to the VPN at home I amnow able to ping by name. Does that make any sense to you?

Yes, the last connection will set the IP configuration. So in this case, you will get the gateway and DNS configuration from the VPN connection at last and show the right direction to the other side of the VPN tunnel.
