that was flushdns right?

sounds like you dns server isn't setup correctly.

clearly you have a ISP. Is your dns server forwarding to the isp or are you entering the isp's dns info in at the workstation?

do you have servers?

do u have the 'allow dynamic updates' settings right? please look into that. Next to that be sure that u also forward lookups that dont belong in your zone to the isp`s dns server by manually adding the following entry

www HOST(A) (!)000.000.000.000

in wich the (!) is the valid ip of the isp`s dns server. this way all FQDN starting with www. will automaticly being forwarded to the right dns to resolve them.

Cool, but let me ask you this why even within our own network we cant resolve names, that some users we have to enter Ip address instead of just computer name

its confusing some how why we hav to flash DNS even though we just access the internal network

flush not flash. flushdns.

Your issue is improper DNS configuration.

You are pointing your network to the isp's dns server. That is wrong because your server/pcs don't have the ability to update the isps dns server. Since the isps dns server doesn't know the names of your server or pcs it can't resolve the names.

this is why you configure your dns server correctly. The correct way is in forwarder you put the isps dns server(s) entries. Your dns server has a host and ptr entry for itself. All the workstations point to your dns server. What your dns server can't resolve [like a internet address] it then forwards to the isps dns server.

It helps to read the documentation :-) as it tells you the proper config.
