Hello,
I've a problem with my DNS Server (window2003Server). I want to replace my old Win200Server with the win2003Server. On the server run ExchangeServer2000, it's a DNS server, FileServer, WINS server,...
When I try to run the command line tool DcDiag and I see the error message:
"The host xxx could not be resolved to an IP address. Check teh DNS server, DHCP, server name, etc.
Check that the IP address is registered correctly with the DNS server."
The DNS server is configured like the old server, I use static IPs --> DHCP could not be the error, server name is correct. I can ping the IP of the server and I can ping the server name.
I don't understand the message:"Check that the IP address is registered correctly with the DNS server." The server is the DNS server. How should i register it???Please help me if you can! I would be very happy!!
I wish you an nice day,

Common DNS settings mistakes
1.The domain controller is not pointing to itself for DNS resolution on all network interfaces. Especially, when you have multihomed server, the WAN connection may be assign 127.0.0.1 as DNS ip.
2. The "." zone exists under forward lookup zones in DNS.
3. The clients on LAN do not point the DNS to internal DNS server.Robert, MS-MVP, MCSE and CNE
