You definitely have a DNS problem.

More info *may* help
- Did you create a reverse lookup zone?
- Is this a registered Internet domain?
- Assuming your domain is test.net, at your server, what happens if you ping test.net? - Were you able to join workstations to the domain okay, and if so, what happens when you ping test.net from a workstation?
-what IP addresses are you using for local subnet?

Regarding diagnostic tools, try netdiag and dcdiag from the Support tools but they mostly tell you something is wrong but not how to fix it!

Hi

i've also have problem with my DNS, My client can join domian successfully but the DNS server failed to update the forwarder lookup zone but manage to update at the reverse lookup zone. what could go wrong.

my client services claim that it failed to locate the dns server, but it can ping the server and others using ping "cname" ... very weird. shall i reinstall my DNS???

Gladys,

I think in your case dcdiag and netdiag might be helpful. Use the /v switch.

Of course reinstall DNS is always an option, as it is so easy to do.
