I am new to windows server 2003 and even newer to DNS. I have AD setup and running and I own a domain name through godaddy.com. My first question is as follows: On the user interface for godaddy i have the options of using a name server or something called domain host. I can use a custom nameserver but i had no idea what to put so i put the following three entries: CIVIL.GA065.ORG CIVIL.65.6.129.62 NS1.65.6.129.62 and under the domain host i put the following: host: it only gave me an option to enter something.ga065.org so then i put "civil.ga065.org" then ip address:65.6.129.62 Somehow these entries worked and this points my dns server on server 2003 (i think) I would like to know how this should be properly configured instead of just trial and error. Secondly I was using trial and error for the dns setup as well and it seems to be working aside from one problem: when I do nslookup ga065.org i get back two ip addresses! One is the wan and the other is the local lan ip. I think this is slowing down my sites because half the time it tries to point to my local ip and of course it won't go through. I need to know how i can make it so that i have only one entry. Under the dns settings i have looked through everything and no record or anything seems to point to 192.168.0.111(local ip)! I don't know if this is my server problem or the way it is setup with the domain registrar. Any help would be greatly appreciaed. Thanks
