hi.

i just recently installed a second hard drive, maxtor 80g. but even before that, my pc seemed to be crashing. it would start up fine, and it would work fine for a while, but then all of a sudden it would crash. i check the even veiwer and it seems like its a DISK ERROR

Description:
The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk0.

when i go to help, its telling me that i should change my cables.

any help would be greatly appreciated. thanx

You need to see if you have properly connected your IDE cables and power cables and if they are not too old. then u might want to go to BIOS setup and check to see if your BIOS detects both of your HDDs and CDROM and CD-RW or DVD (if you have any). if it does, then save the configuration and exit.
Run windows and see if you have the same problem.
Make sure you have set the jumpers correctly and the are fixed and not loose.
