If your system is presently installed on a RAID, you would have to break it. You may have to redo your entire system though, I'm not sure, it depends on the RAID controller and what it's capable of. I suggest you read up on your controller and how to break a RAID and return your system to a single disk setup.

Aristotles your post is a mixture of concepts. If you presently have either hardware or software raid engaged your "my old data" is gone for good.

Otherwise you need to clarify what you are saying before you cause a world of hurt. I am assuming this is not work related or a production server. If it is you need to have some serious concerns for your company's data and retaining your job.

lol. This is for my home environment. not production. this is simply for my computers at home and to also learn windows server over time :). To make it a bit more clearer, i simply want to have windows 2003 server to be run on one drive only and have a second HD to be accessible for my files only as in to have my other HD as a drive letter.

Then why are you mentioning raid?

You physically connect the drive and then go into disk management to partition and format then assign a drive letter.

Glad to hear its not production :-)
