DHCP server not working

Specs: Windows XP

I have windows 2003 sever OS. I installed DHCP server on it. My DHCP server is running and scope is active. But my client is not picking ip address from server. if i give static ip to the client and ping to the server then ping is successfull. I am unable to find the error. Please help me.

Are the clients on the same subnet? Are they set to obtain automatically? What happens on the client side if they are set to obtain? Do they get any message? Do they get any sort of IP address?

server ip is 192.168.11.1. clients are set to obtain ip adress automatically. when client set to obtain ip address automatically client does not take address from dhcp server it takes any class b type address like 169........

did you set the servers ip to static?

First u check the scopes- ranges of ip u assigned,
client shows default ip add are shows
obtain automatically assign ip option
check ipconfig or ipconfig\release and new the new ip.
