hi
i have configured DHCPserver machin ip =192.168.253.111
GW=192.168.253.1
ip pool=192.168.253.128 - 192.168.253.192
excluion= no exclusion
DNS suffix= ppt.local
DNS server = 192.168.253.111
DNS1 = 203.x.126.1 (set on TCP/IP propertie)
DNS2 = 203.X.126.2 (set on TCP/IP propertie)DNS 1&2 is provided by the ISP
on Cliendt side when i resolve the ip the client resolve the ip from DHCP and alocate 192.168.253.128 and dns ppt.local etc
but when i try to browse the internet its not bowsing. could you help me out?
and what is the ideal time of expiry of alloted ip.
Thank you

As you described, your server is also akting as a DNS server.
So the DNS1 and DNS2 must not be configured in TCP/IP settings of your network card.
It must be placed in the forwarder list in the DNS server configuration.

ok thanks alot i am succed in the task .browser is working thank alot
now
lets deal with some more complex situation acutally i made my server ideal for the situation. now actually before making the DHCP server, the system have two ip configured on NIC, the primary ip is golbal ip of 203.x.126.130 (GW=203.x.126.129)and an additinal ip of 192.168.253.111 (GW= 192.168.253.1) as i told you before, which is private ip obviously.now when i am making a socpe of 192.168... ip pool the clint is not resloving the givn ip pool from dhcp. i made the same configurtaion on server as i did before, excpt that this time NIC card has two ip .
Thank you

I am sorry i didn't get you.?
actually look! our network was statically define. and the system which i want to make the DHCP server is behind the pix firewall, comprising two IP assigned on NIC card. one is global and other is private which we can see when we take the TCP/IP properties. and yes one more thing the GW assigned on the NIC is of global ip that is 203.x.126.129 . and when making DHCP server i am giving 192.168.253.1 as gateway when it ask for a GW when doing the DHCP configuration for local LAN user.
a bit confusing han?
Thank you
