Comment:

Setting up a new server (installed DC, DNS server, RAS/VPN, and now DHCP server)

I specified my range:
192.168.254.100 - 192.168.254.200

Server's IP 192.168.254.1
Router's IP 192.168.254.10
Server is started, and authorized. DHCP turned off in router.

can't get DHCP to release IPs to clients. (Win2k)

Looking for any recommended places to start looking. Anything obvious, etc. -Hope my info isn't too broad.

Help and advice would be very appreciated. Thanks!

You say you authorized the server but ave you activated the scope? What IP address do the clients get? Are the clients set to obtain IP automatically?

Scope is activated. Clients are not getting IPs at all from server.

This is a replacement server, (old one was NT4) and i've tried to keep the same static IP for the server, as well as same router IP, domain, etc.

I cant even ping the router now, but interestingly, if I plug the old server into the hub, I get the warning message that another computer exists with the same IP

Have you configured your switch and or router to look for the DHCP Server and or send the request to the DHCP Server
