HI,

I am working on setting up Win 2K3 Server Small Business Edition that I want to use as a file server and internet router on a LAN. I have 2 NICs, one with a static IP address from my ISP which is connecting to the internet just fine, and the second I have set up with a private static IP address for my internal network. The internet NIC is set as a public interface with NAT and the firewall enabled. The server has DHCP service running on it for the internal LAN. Running IPCONFIG on my client I see that I have an IP address assigned from my private address pool, subnet mask matches the Win 2K3 server, DHCP and DNS servers are set to the Win 2K3 server private IP address, but the default gateway is popping up as the default gateway address for the internet NIC on my server. I can ping the server, but not the outside world. Shouldn't the default gateway be the IP address of the private NIC on the server? Looking in the DHCP scope options I do not see where the other gateway address is coming from. The Router address is the private IP address of the server. What is going on here? Any help greatly appreciated!!

Thanks,

Brian

Check the DHCP server settings for the assigned default gateway for the clients...
