When connected remotely to my stand alone 2003 SE server, if the connection sits idle for a period of time, the server desktop automatically locks. I'd like to disable this 'feature'.

Does anyone know where/how to disable that so the desktop doesn't automatically lock? I've poured through the local security policy and gpedit.msc but cannot find anything on it.

I had this same problem with our win 2k3 blade servers - everytime our outside rep would connect remotely, he'd start some service, eventually the connection would go idle, then disconnect. As soon as it disconnected, the console wouldn't respond.

Only solution I've found is to log in as the remote user then log them off. As soon as I would do this the console would work. The remote user "says" they weren't logging in with the admin login, but I can't see how it would lock the console if they weren't - maybe it's anyone with admin rights.

I'd like to know if there's another solution as well.

It may be in there but isn't it part of screen saver?

Give me a second and I'll look...hmmm....the screen saver was on and set for 10 min's with "use password to reconnect". I was sure I had set it to no password as I always do that and the power options power the monitor down (mind you, I keep the server monitor off when I'm not actually at the console). I'll see if that does the trick and get back to you...Thanks Jefro.

It would appear it is the screen saver which is enabled by default with the password protection box checked. I unchecked the password box and haven't been bothered since.
