Demote DNS Server 2003?

I have a building connected by fiber. In the building we have three people working on a server 2003 sp2 AD/DNS. I would like to add them to the main server 2003 sp2 and demote there domain and use that server as a kind of back up. I would like to replicate the AD from the main server on it.
But I don't know where to start. They have one small application running on it that I would like to keep on it. Can someone point me in the right direction?

demote this server to be a standalone server. It will ask you since this is the last dc for this forest if you want to proceed. Say yes. Then promote it to be a DC in your existing forest and domain. I would make it a secondary or ad intergated dns server and I would engage the global catalog on it.
You would add those workstations and user to your existing domain and you should be done.
Down the road you may want to consider transfering a fsmo role or two.
I would add that you should first check with the application's tech support concerning your plan to make sure there are no hidden licensing or other issues.
