I am trying to get roaming profiles working around my house.

I now have a default user profile that I can log in with and I like all the settings.

I copied this profiles files into the servers Default User folder under Documents and Settings as I was told to in a tutorial.

I then created a new user and logged into the domain controller with the new user and the default user files were copied to the new users profile folder. The problem is it is trying to access the original profiles My Documents ect. and it's not pointing to it's own folders.

Any help appreciated,

Thanks,

What is the path for the My Documents? You need to make sure that it's a drive that all users have (i.e. Z drive as the home folder) and that you have that path in the user's AD profile.

I found the issue, I was copy and pasting the users files and not doing it though computer properties, advanced, local profiles, copy to - like I should have done.

Another thing, does anyone know how to stop profiles being left in the documents and settings folder of the client machine when logging in, as I don't think it is necessary and it is a waste of hard drive.

You must specify that through group policy if you do not want the roaming profile cached to the PC.

I have set GP so that the cached profile is deleted on the local machine when logging off but it is still there.

After a bit of research I have come to a conlcusion that some of the files are in use when logging out so they cannot be deleted.

Any ideas what could be stopping it, I havn't installed anything on the client machine.

Thanks,
