Hi is there a way to update all end user PC's from the server? i tried a log-on script, but still hour behind any ideas or do i have to go to each machine? thanks

If they're patched, why do you need to manually update them?

If they're winXP you should use the fix that microsoft provides and push it with a windows update server (if you have one) If it's windows 2000, it's a bit tougher.
win2k:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...follow the directions carefully and you will get a .reg file and a .vbs file. I tried to make it work as a startup script with group policy but it just diddn't work consistantly.
I had to use PSexec to make it work, but first had to copy a batch file, reg file and vbs file to the local hard drive of each computer (I used the C$ share) took me less than an hour to do about 100 win2k PCs
--One last problem you may be having, be sure that in the time zone settings the box for "automaticly adjust for daylight savings time" is checked.

If the clients are running XP SP2, you don't need to do anything as long as they're being updated.
A little late to ask, doncha think?

ya little late!, did most PC's that we really needed to worry about. But of course teachers are asking all over to fix! and learned last minute that guy that just left turned off automatic updates! on XP Sp2 machines.....
when it rains it pours!

Sounds pretty simple to fix:
Turn Automatic Updates on via Group Policy, and let it work its magic.

P.S. Not to turn this into a flame or anything, but Jennifer is still right as far as it being too late.
It should have been discovered Automatic Updates had been turned off well before this issue came to light.
If you missed the DST patch, what other patches are you missing? What do you use for patch management? Are you auditing your client machines' patch levels?
Not trying to slam you. It sounds like this is a problem with your organization, not you necessarily. Learn from it. Address now how all those desktops are going to get the latest updates from Microsoft. How are you going to verify they actually did? Today, it's an hour off on their clocks. Next time, the crisis may be a worm spreading in your network because you're missing a patch that addressed the issue, and therefore could have been prevented.
Check out WSUS and MBSA!

little background iam new guy here at this place and picking up slack from someone that did nothing! no excuses here but you cant always get everything especially when i have 1600 people to work with. anyways.... thanks for you input about--->What do you use for patch management? Are you auditing your client machines' patch levels? "this is a thing i need to look into as im not familiar with it" ...

In the environment I'm working now, I use WSUS and MBSA, as they don't have the financial resources to explore any other products.
