Hello,
After expanding the number of computers at home, (thus expanding my current "Peer-Peer Network") i've decided to take a different route, away from the WORKGROUP based network scheme and more towards a DOMAIN based network scheme.
My main computer which i want to run as a server, is running windows 2003 enterprise. I have 5 other computers all running windows xp.
I'm new to the DOMAIN based network, and i would like to learn more. If it is possible, could someone please list out the steps i would have to take on in order to transform my win2k3 machine into a real SERVER. I've read about DCPROMO, but I don't really understand what i'm doing when i'm typing in the "DNS Name" etc. I've tried the numerous tutorials online, but they merely skim over DCPROMO. If someone could actually show me how to go about the tranformation of my network it would be MUCH APPRECIATED!

If you don't understand that, and those are the basics....most especially DNS. You need to get a good book on Windows 2000/2003 based domains and do some reading before you attempt this.
