Answers:
1) Run DCPROMO from the run prompt on the server, and follow the wizard.

2) If that means what I think it does, you can just browse the domain using the Entire Network link in My Network Places (there are many ways to "connect" to a computer - if you just want to browse it type \\computername in the address bar, but you can also connect via. remote registry or computer management.

3) Again, DCPROMO will create a domain if one doesnt already exist.

4) Depends what "not connected" means - plug the network cable back in if its not physically connected. If it wont log on unjoining it from the domain and re-joining it again usually works.

Hope this helps

Rob

Wanderer....if DNS isn't setup prior to running dcpromo, it will create the DNS for your during the promotion. For most....especially newbies....this is the recommended method of doing DNS. Just ensure your server's DNS address (in TCP/IP settings) points at itself prior to running dcpromo.

i also found it better to get dns setup before running dcpromo.I have also found when running dcpromo and allowing it to configure dns it configures dns as a root server.
