Do only the desktops freeze or is it both the desktops and the server? How many desktops? When did this begin happening and do you rememebr if any software, hardware or networking equipment was added or changed at that time? When the computers "freeze" do you have to cold boot them to get them going again - what do you do when they freeze, do they start moving agina on their own? What scheduled events do you have, backup software on the server? Have you tried putting a sniffer on the network to capture networking events that might be causing this or at least see what system is "talking" to who before the freeze or talking during the freez-up?
I recommend setting up the sniffer to capture traffic before and during while still searching for other software or services on the server and desktops that's causing this.
The grass may not be greener on the other side . . . but it just might have less weeds. :-D
