Hi to all brainers out there!
I have a big environment in production, and a virtual lab pilote for
implementing patch management with sms 2003.
architecture:
couple of servers are isolated in a different domain for consoles and
others option puposes(no internet connection only direct to MAN - LAN with
few restricted ports)
isolate meening segmented and secure. I have another production environment
(MAN + LAN)that uses multitude of servers + PCs with different branches.Presently, i have some servers in production mode that are going to use WSUS
for patch management only(politics issues). but the rest of my production
servers and pc will use only sms2003 for patch management . I wanted to use
wsus and synchronisation host for patch management on the same box therfore
sharing the same database. can it be done?
i know that sms clients are using to upload in port 80 as default from web
iis server
also the wsus clients are communication with port 80 & 443 to the wsus
server.
therfor they use IIS`s database. Question? can it be shared with sms 2003
synchronisation host??I have looked in technet and every where for some info but i have got
saturated.
I have found an article that explains about how multiple WSUS do communicate
between each other in the same environment ''chained server'' for this
scenario i have to have more then one wsus server 1 in pro and 1 in isolated
, secure remote site. but it is not what we want.(office).
