Hi,

I am helping out on the network of a company and everything is Ok and stable, but the only problem is that the clients from time to time get dicsonnected from the shares... and sometimes during login even get the floating profile that it can't be reached etc...

The shares are connected with each logon with a batch file that is on the server and when I disconnect the shares ( explorer ) and then double click the batch file it is connect again and everything works again... So strange, why this happens randomly from PC to PC... sometimes only 1 PC can logon and the rest need to do the steps mention above...

Can anybody help to figure this out how to solve this.. ?

Thanks.

Clients: All windows XP
Server: P4, 3.0 Ghz 3 Gb RAM 2* 250 Gb 10.000 RPM HDD
Software: Windows server 2003 R2 10 clients

It could be a licensing problem. How many seats were bought with the server software & how many do you have now?

How do you know when a politician is lying? His mouth is moving.

I believe guapo's question is just on how many xp workstations since you state you have 10 server cals.

Also review the shares. Are there limits set to the amount of users?

Sorry, I didn't see that post script. Wanderer's interpretation is correct.

Hi,

We only have 6 PC's here, so 4 CAL's are unused... Do you need any more details on this, btw sorry for the late reply, forgot I posted here... :-)))

Now with a lot of PC's it's happening, after reboot I need to double click the batchfile to reconnect to the shares again of the server... so strange.

Thanks.

rem the echo off on your script and put a pause on the end so you can review is the script is generating errors. This will give you a clue what to look for.
