clients can't join new 2k3 domain

I installed a new win2k3 sbs domain, the server seems to be fine my dns is functioning correctly and i'm able to browse the network and see others on. I have another w2k3 server as a TS, they both have static ip's. I am able to ping the dns, the domain, the router by name and ip but i am not able to join it on the domain. when pinging though it takes a bit of time before i see the 4 replies. this goes for the workstations on the network.
