clients can not connect to server

hi guys last night i installed windows server 2003 one of my pc and made internet sharing to rest of computers and all things did work properly but next day when i turned on my pc and made internet connection sharing. clients told me that they can not connect to internet nor server.when.i did not install ADS yet.when I open local network connection and I see there just sending bytes receiving bytes are zero.when I ping from the client to server I get messege “request time out” and when I run ipconfig on the client I see ip address like 169.254.40.146 .on the client side. I am running windows 98 on client computers.can any one tell me how to fix this problem and what cause of this problem.

We had problems with W95. On the W2000 server there is a client that can connect to Active Directory. W9x uses another connection method. (W98 standard can connect to W2003 in our company) The file is located at E:\CLIENTS\WIN9X\DSCLIENT.exe
