I'm wondering if it's possible to change your email password though Microsoft Outlook on the client side only - that is, without going through a server administrator or the server itself. I tried doing it by going to Tools -> Accounts -> selecting my account -> Properties -> Server -> changing my password -> Apply -> OK -> Send/Receive -> and I get an authentication error asking me to retype my username and password. I type my new password in, and it tells me to try again. I didn't think it would work since I'm very sure the password needs to be changed on the server as well. I even google searched for a way to do it, but came up short.
The reason I'm asking is because I'm running an email server - Windows Server 2003 Web Edition with the standard pop3 service installed (the one that you can install by going to Add/Remove Windows Components). A client of mine, for whom I set up a mailbox and set her password, claims that her authentication is no longer working for some weird reason, and that she changed her password a long time ago and it has been working since then except for now. But I don't remember ever changing her password, so unless Microsoft Outlook has the ability to change a mailbox's password from the client alone, I don't know how she could have done it. Is it possible?
