I have just completed my first installation of Windows 2003 server (to connect to a W2K network)
Our standard practice for servers is to change the drive letter assignment on CD-ROM/DVD drives to Drive Z: so that all fixed disk drives can be assigned C:,D:,E: and so
I went into Disk Management under Computer Management to change the assignment but no CD-ROM drive shows up. You see the drive as Drive D: under My Computer and you can read CD/DVD from it
How do you assign Z: to a CD-ROM under 2003 Server ?
(Server used : DELL PowerEdge 800 with DVD Reader)

Hi,
No idea why it doesn't show in disk management.
Try putting a CD in the drive.

If at first you don't succeed, you're about average.

Here is what would do,, you don't need to use drive letters for each fix disk,, you can assign mount points instead of using drive letters,, like Linux does.
