Can't connect to VPN from internet

I'm running a VPN server. I just used the wizard in Routing and Remote Access. When I connect to the VPN on the local network using the local IP address, it seems to work fine. When I attempt to connect using the internet IP address, it is unable to connect and states that no server was found to connect to. A port scan of the internet IP address says that port 1723 isn't even open. The router has the server as a DMZ. All other services that should be accessible from the internet are. It's just the VPN that won't connect. I was wondering if there was a setting somewhere I'm overlooking or if anyone had any ideas on other things I should check. Firewalls, filters, etc. Thanks, -Aden

DMZ does not work correctly at all routers. Have you googled for your router model and dmz problems. Or maybe the website of the manufacturer helps on that problem.

What doesn't work correctly about DMZ on some routers? If you believe it's the DMZ, would you think port forwarding would work? More importantly, why wouldn't the DMZ work?

Mostly because of Firmware problems. Don't know, what kind of router you're using, but on e.g. Netgear, DMZ doesn't work with the original firmware. After a firmware update it works. That's why I wrote, take a look at the manufactures homepage.
