Hi, I am having a problem setting up my server. When the server is setup not as a domain controller, I can browse the web just fine. But as soon as I set it up as a domain controller, the server nor any of the clients can browse. Plus, right now, I am sharing my internet using ICS. I would like to share it using NAT under Routing and Remote Access. But the same thing happens. If I enable Routing and Remote Access, my internet goes down for the server and the clients. As soon as I turn either of them off (both have to be off... domain controller demoted and the AD cannot be on... then I can browse the web on both the server and all of the clients. I was thinking it might be a DNS issue but I tried setting up the server as a DNS server and it didn't help.

I think it's a DNS problem, can you ping the dns server that your pointing to? Do you have any firewalls running on that box ?

I wasn't pointing to any DNS servers. I tried to setup the W2K3 box as a DNS server and point the client machines at the server for DNS. I did try to point the machines at my ISPs DNS server but that didn't work either. And there are no firewalls on the server (software or hardware).

In a domain environment you have to use DNS in conjunction with AD. To make your internet work, you clients must be pointed to your internal DNS server and it in turn must be forwarded to an external DNS server to handle requests outside the local zone (ie: on the internet).
