We just upgraded our server from windows 2000SBS with exchange to 2003SBS with exchange. The migration went well and except for a few bugs most things are working with one major exception. One computer would not access the shared folder on the server. When I removed them it would not let me add them back. I kept asking for user name and password but none including adim credentials worked. We went all the way back, removed the computer from the domain and the server will not let us re-join it. Even when the computer name was changed, all we get is "access denied".
The system in question is a win XP pro sytem with all current upgrades. I can log on as teh user of that computer from other systems and it work, but we cannot get the system in questioned joined to the domain at all. Teh rest of the systems work fine.
Any ideas?

When you go to add it are you putting the DNS suffix in first? If not, do so and ensure the DNS address in the TCP/IP info points at your DNS server.

Ran into this today myself. DNS, accounts, everything was correct. Turns out you have to have Tcp/ip netbios helper in Services enabled and running. Instantly connected after that change on the workstation.
MS is full of BS when they say we can get rid of netbios if running in native mode and with w2k/xp. Bull&%&% Bill Gates. I run in native mode and with XP pro yet I had to enable the netbios helper.

Yep, it's a dirty little secret! ;-)
