I am having a problem with Windows 2003 not joining a domain. When I try to join a domain I get this:
Note: This information is intended for a network administrator. If you are not your network's administrator, notify the administrator that you received this information, which has been recorded in the file C:\WINDOWS\debug\dcdiag.txt.An error occurred when DNS was queried for the service location (SRV) resource record used to locate a domain controller for domain parent-2-parent.com.
The error was: "No records found for given DNS query."
(error code 0x0000251D DNS_INFO_NO_RECORDS)The query was for the SRV record for _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.parent-2-parent.com

I don't know what to do. Any thoughts?

Pretty simple. The client was unable to find those DNS records.
Check:
1. Is the client configured to connect to the correct DNS server where these records are located?
2. Can the client connect to this dns server? Ping the DNS server, and also try...nslookup
lserver <dnsipaddress>
3. Does the DNS server actually have these records? Please help survivors of Hurricane Katrina!

Thank you for the reply. I hate to admit it but I don't know the answer to your question.
We purchased the server. My tech person has been setting it up, but she's fallen ill.
I have been remote acccessing the server checking the settings. One of the things I noted was that on the system properties, Computer Name we were joined to the default workgroup, but not the domain. I tried to change it to parent-2-parent.com, and when I did I got that error I showed you above.
Unfortunately I don't know much more than that. I know I the ip works, however that's the extent of it.
Basically we have the server set up, we have MySql set up along with Hosting Controller, IIS etc. But, we cannot reconcile the dns.
I was hoping that maybe I'd found the answer as to why.

If you don't know the answers to those questions, don't try to resolve this issue. You're gonna cause more harm than good. Hire a consultant to help you.

I have Two Servers as well. One is running Exchange and one will be an ISA 2004 server with two cards as in public and Private interfaces running server 2003. I am the network administrator for the IT company. The Exchange Server is the Domain controller. The ISA 2004 has to join the Server Exchange Server as a member server. I am failing to join the Domain. I am getting an error as follows:-
Note: This information is intended for a network administrator. If you are not your network's administrator, notify the administrator that you received this information, which has been recorded in the file C:\WINDOWS\debug\dcdiag.txt.The following error occurred when DNS was queried for the service location (SRV) resource record used to locate a domain controller for domain chikankata.org.zm:
The error was: "DNS name does not exist."
(error code 0x0000232B RCODE_NAME_ERROR)The query was for the SRV record for _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.chikankata.org.zm
Common causes of this error include the following:
- The DNS SRV records required to locate a domain controller for the domain are not registered in DNS. These records are registered with a DNS server automatically when a domain controller is added to a domain. They are updated by the domain controller at set intervals. This computer is configured to use DNS servers with following IP addresses:
62.128.175.14
62.128.175.15
192.168.4.1- One or more of the following zones do not include delegation to its child zone:
chikankata.org.zm
org.zm
zm
. (the root zone)For information about correcting this problem, click Help.
My Question is how do I join the ISA 2004 Server 2003 to Server 2003 Domain controller?
Kennedy

First off, you should start your own thread.
To answer your question, you must ensure the ISA server is configured to use your internal DNS server.
192.168.4.1 - is that your internal DNS server.
