I had a windows2003 server trial version on my computer, and now I am trying to install windowsxp on the same computer by erasing win2k3. I have removed windows2003 partition during the windowsxp installation, but I ended up getting was this: "cannot copy the file: ntldr" error. Is there any way to solve this problem? Why MS had to mess with the bootloader for the windows server version?

I don't think it is the boot loader.

There is a note on how to repair ntldr at the MS site.

Pretty sure ntldr will be put on the first ide chain no matter where you wish to put xp. (could be way wrong on that).
So, I'd look at why you can't write to that.

I had an issue just like this and it turned out to be a bad stick of ram. If you haven't solved this, try running a test on your ram.

just my two cents.
