Hello all,
I cannot browse Windows Server 2003 shares over the network with XP Pro.

I have set the workgroup. I can see the XP Pro shares with the Server 2003.

I have enabled shares on Server 2003 using "Manage your file server"

As a test, I ran Windows Server 2003 on the machine that I am trying to use XP Pro to browse. I was able to browse the main server 2003 with the other copy of Server 2003 on the other machine.

Running XP Pro, I can successfully ping the Server IP.

I have static IP on each machine. I am running through a linksys router. I have _not_ configured DNS. I have DHCP running on a dsl router.

Main 2003 server is P4-2.4 MHz/768MB ram.

I would sure appreciate any help or suggestions.

Thanks

your right, it's a Dns problem, do you have your DNS setup on your 2003 server? if so then point all your 2000/XP boxes to ,throught your pri dns setup.

Is your server assigned as a Domain Controller? I have heard many issues when the domain controller and the router conflict because they are both acting as the dhcp.

I would avoid setting static IP addresses, with a dhcp router you should not need statics.

Also you will want to make sure that all of the computers and users are joined to the domain, it is pretty easy to do. My gut tells me that it is the domain issue, I had some trouble with that when I first got w2k3.

Good luck.

I would have thought it was a permissions either in shares or user that prevents that.
