My company has a Windows Server 2003 SBS server they we would like to add an Exchange server to.
My question is about CAL licenses and what actually is considered a connection.
If two users are downloading their mail via POP, does that count as two connection and require two licenses?
If two users both have a MUA running and connected to the Exchange IMAP server, does this count as a connection?
What about other services such as calender synchronization?
I am trying to decide how man CALs we will need to purchase that but I can not accurately determine this without knowing what Microsoft considers a connection to the machine.
From my research I have only been able to verify that I need a CAL for each concurrent OWA connection.
Any insight on this subject is appreciated.
Thanks,
Jordan

basically each and every client connection to exchange requires a cal.
