Comment: I recently installed Win 2003 enterprise version on new machine. Disk management configuration is: Disk 0 Unallocated 136 GB Disk 1 C: with 20 GB and 117.2 GB unallocated. Is it advisable to have C drive on disk 0 ONLY? Can I configure it now so that 20GB of C drive be on Disk 0 instead of 1? Can you please guide me with this. Thanks, R S

Reply: (edit)It's advisable to have your OS on a RAID1 mirror or some other fault tolerant array. Other than that it doesn't matter. "Enough, enough bowing down to disillusion! Reply: (edit)Hmm. I wonder how the disks are configured [mster/slave or cable select] and how the bios is configured [boot disk1 over disk0]? It would not hurt anything for you to swap the disks on the cable and then bootup to see what happens. That would be the easiest way of making the OS on disk0. Reply: (edit)Hi, Thank you for your messages. Since this is a brand new server I tried to format it, when it got to the point where I had to assign partitions, I chose to create it on Disk 0, ID 0 and it didnt allow me to. It forced me to create a new partition for C drive on Disk 0 ID 1. Once the installation was complete, the computer management was exactly the same as before. C Drive on Disk 1? any thoughts?
