I've got a server running Windows Server 2003
(fully patched). Machine details:
Dell PowerEdge 840
bios version: X16
BMC version: 1.75
OS: Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2,
Standard Edition Version 5.2 (Build 3790 :
Service Pack 2) (x86)
It’s got a modem attached (MT9234ZBA-USB
Multimodem) for sending faxes. The modem
has the latest drivers and firmware from the
manufacturer. (For what it’s worth, I’ve got
another server {running SBS 2003} with 2 of
these modems that’s 100% bulletproof.)
The server will BSOD at random intervals (as
often 2-3 times daily, sometimes not for 3
weeks.) The server ran problem free for 2
months without the modem installed, so I’m
fairly sure that’s the problem. The crashes
seemed to be fixed by updating to all the
newest drivers, but a crash last night proved
that’s not true.
The modem includes wdfcoinstaller.dll (which
is windows\system32) in its list of drivers.
Wdf01000.sys is in the
windows\system32\drivers dir. Both files have
the exact same version info {version 1.5.600.0
(vista_rtm.061101-2205)} but of course are very
different sizes.
BSOD details:
STOP: 0x0000007E (0x0000005,
0xF7AFC4C4, 0xB75B9C00, 0xB75B98FC)
Edf01000.sys - Address F7AFC4C4 base at
F7ACF000, DateStamp 4549b23aAny assistance if figuring out the problem
would be greatly appreciated.

Compare the file length of wdfcoinstaller.dll and Wdf01000.sys with the files from the original drivers cd.
If the length of the files differ, I would suggest to use the driver from the original drivers cd and give it a try. Please send a reply, if you solved the problem !!!
