Thnaks heropsycho2177 for the fast reply ,
any how I have checked the event logs but they have nothing of that much deal , it says go to the backup report I have posted above ,anyways what I'm doubting is that there is a rpoblem in the C drive "Error: C: is not a valid drive, or you do not have access." as you can see in the bakcup log but the thing is that I can't make sure of where the error is or how to locate it , just to fulfill your concious I'm gonna list out what is in the event logs .

"Evet Id:8019 source:NTbackup.
End operation.warning ot errors were encountered, condult the backup report for more details".

another log says " End bakcup of "c:" warning or errors were encountered. consult backup report for more details."

Cheers

Update the firmware on the tape drive and try a brand new tape in the drive. Tapes do have a limited lifetime and should be replaced regularly.

I have replace the tape with a new one three times as well as I have cleaned the drive ,
also the tape status is healthy.

so nothing is wrong with the tape.

Ok, update the firmware and try again. If that doesn't work, redo your backup set and try that. If it still doesn't work, your drive may very well be in need of replacing.

I've run into a few problems with this before at my work. Just one question- do you guys have the backup software that will tell you exactly at what file it ends at? We've had times before that the file is a dedicated in use file and doesn't allow itself to be copied while being in use. We've also had times where our backup units access a different server's information and the LM & SM response configurations haven't been set to allow the data transfer. Also, if you are running it off of another server's data, are you running the same administrator name and password for both under an AD? Sometimes it won't let you get it because you "don't have access"

Thanks Curt R ,AKL-MFCU
In fact I was trying to respond a while ago but ,I had some probs with the internet connection , anyhow CurtR I wish if you direct me to some articles that show how to update the firmware.

..

AKL-MFCU
The software I use for backup is the one comes up with windows, moreover the server doesn't have AD ,it is only connected to the network and running oracle database as a server ,so the password issue is dissmissed .nut if you're asking about the user for windows itself .then it is Administrator.

Thanks

It's not hard to do. Go to your OEM website, find the proper update for your tape drive and there should be instructions for updating it there. The times I've done this, that was always the case.
