I cannot get automatic updates to work on the server. I have searched and tried everything that I have been able to find to resolve this, with no luck. When looking in the Windowsupdateserver.log, I see download job failed because of insufficient range support, other errors include 0x80200013, BG_Error_context = 5. In the event log, it give Event ID 16, stating Unable to Connect: Windows is unable to connect to the automatic updates service and therefore cannot download and install updates according to the set schedule. Windows will continue to try to establish a connection. I have tried this behind a firewall with proxy, and without a firewall, but no matter what I do, it will not auto update. I can manually update with absolutely no problems. I am starting to get frustrated why this seems to be so difficult to resolve. I don't want to go the WSUS/SUS route, and shouldn't need to. If the ability to automatically update in included in the OS, then it should work, without all of these problems. Any suggestions, or ideas would be greatly appreciated. P.S. I've added all the variations found on the net into the trusted sites with no effect. Thanks again.

download microsoft baseline security analyzer, this program will check more than windows update. The program will help you resolve problems with downloading automatic updates if used properly.
