I have a situation where a client has several hundered people in the field with laptops VPN'ing remotely into our domain. All have have their own computer/user accounts. The client is splitting their organization and I need to migrate a few hundred of these users AND their laptops to the new domain. Ordinarily, in order to change the domain membership of a PC a domain administrator needs to touch it and do a reboot but that is not possible in this case as the users are scattered geographically all over the United States. It doesn't sound like this is just a question of migrating user and computer accounts. If it were that simple how would the individual laptops know they are now joined to a new domain and show the new domain on the drop down list at the login screen. I would think I would need to combine user/computer account migration with a script to update the user login (this is possible I can push a script down remotely). Anybody ever done anything like this???
