Hi
We have some server in a 42U rack cabinet and we have just installed a 2 Horse Power windows type air condition near the back of it, open rear door.
Just wondering if it ok to blow cold air straight to it or have it swinging from left to right. The temp is about 19'C if it's blowing into it and also I'm a bit worry about the 70 percent humidity.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

It's better to not let the air conditioner swing. The air blow can be set to low, right? What I mean is that the servers don't need you to blow air to them but just need the suitable room temperature.
For humidity, normally the air conditioner will keep the room in a nice humidity condition. I don't understand your meaning of 70 percent humidity.

If your servers are blowing air out the back of the units you do NOT want air blowing on the REAR of the units.
You will cancel out the air flow through the servers.
Point the air conditioned air flow to the ceiling. Cool air falls. You will get the best throughout room temp this way.
How does your humidity compare to the outside? You just don't want condensation occuring inside the server room.

The air humidity is lower inside than outside. so it's dryer because of the air conditioner. You are right that the fans at the back of the server are blowing air out, so I will change the air cond. to point upwards but not swing.
We have 2 air cond, the one near the back of the server will turn on for 12 hours and the other one in the room will take over after 12 hours for another 12 hours. The temp in the cabinet is about 20 degrees when the air cond is on near the back of the server but 28 degrees when the other comes on and this one switches off.

28 degrees celsius is too warm. Have both air conditioners run all the time. It not good to cycle them off anyway. According to my air guy it puts more load/wear/tear on the compressor.

Hi
The idea was not to put 1 air cond on 24x7 as I did that before and it broke down after 3 years, so now I have 2, one turn on for 12 hours and then it will rotate, it's just one is near the cabinet and the other is on the other side of the room and the cabinet is closed except the back.

it's strange the air humidity in the cabinet is over 100percent if the air cond is blowing cold air in their.
I think I better point it away from it.
